pinkandyellow: (Frustrated)

A week had passed, and Rose was no closer to finding a way home than she had on day one. She hadn't even been able to get a job, much to her chagrin, thanks to her association with a certain Italian berk. Although she appreciated the free housing, she certainly didn't appreciate having to fight her way through a crowd to get in the place.

This thought was at the forefront of her mind especially today, after her rather annoyingly fruitless bout with job-hunting.

"That's it!" She maneuvered her way to the doorstep and hopped onto it. "You lot can just clear out, right now, thanks, I've had enough of this!"

She was largely ignored.

She seethed, and slammed the door closed behind her.

One person in particular didn't ignore her little outburst.

Of course, the person being Rocco meant his only reaction was to give an amused scoff.

She sighed, and gave him a tired look that all but pleaded for a bit of pity.

"Honestly, mate. I dunno how you live with it all the time."

Rocco shook his head--and whether it was in disbelief or just denying that pleading it had about the same effect.

"Well it's dealing with it or living out on the street. Your choice."

"Half of them belong in the street." She raised her voice to that last bit, ruffling the feathers of a few rather birdlike people who'd made themselves comfortable in the sitting room.

"Still, better than nothing, I suppose. What's he doing today?" He being obvious enough.

"Those people are what keep us in this house and food on the table when certain people aren't making any payments to stay here." Not that he didn't spare a good annoyed look at one of the nobles who elbowed in too close. "Sitting room's over there. There's nothing else interesting to see in this house."

One would think the scandalized gasp from the noblewoman would be a bad thing. One would clearly be unfamiliar with English ladies.

"He is doing two brunettes and a blonde." He snorted--but it's likely he was probably jealous. "And there's some sort of picnic he might or might not go to later today. Why?"

Her mouth instantly curled in distaste. Honestly, how he could manage to do that and still have any energy left was beyond her. "Thought these women were supposed to be proper? How does he not have a fleet of offspring?"

Frankly, the contraception of the time was questionable at best. She found the whole thing shoddy. One of the women gave a harrumph, and Rose snorted back. "Enjoy childbirth," she snapped, and tugged her ponytail out.

"What sort of picnic? Don't suppose we're invited? I'm starved."

"Who says he hasn't?" Mind, only little Giac seemed to be running around the townhouse...but Rocco had no doubts there were others. At least, the expression he had made that pretty clear.

He paused in...whatever it was he was packing to settle Rose with a skeptical look. "Oh, now you're interested in his activities? If you want to be invited you'll have to speak to him. I'm just the servant." He shook his head and gave another skeptical scoff--although whether it was a reaction to her going on the picnic or his being a servant...
