She was angry, so angry, and she wanted to pull back, wanted to slap him. Tell him that it wasn't okay, and beg for answers, how could he? But she didn't- because she understood. It didn't fix anything, it didn't change anything, but she understood that he was fallible. That his mind was poisoned by the Leviathan, that despite it, he was still doing what he thought was good, clouded and broken and wrong, but he didn't see it.
I bring life, she'd said, when really, she brought suffering. Jack had to spend an eternity, watching everyone he knew, everyone he loved, die.
She didn't answer, just yet. She held tighter, arms squeezing around him, clinging. The apology... she didn't know whether or not it helped.
"I know." She pulled back, eyes dark. "But you did."
